1. What has happened to the leaves at the top of the celery? How do you think this happened?






2. Now gently scrape the length of the celery stalk with the knife. As the outer layer of the stalk comes off, you can see the colored tubes running right up the celery stalk.

3. Now take a look at the carrot. Cut across the end of the carrot about two inches above the earlier cut. Look to see what part is colored.
