Materials:

• a thick leaf with a long stem
• two glasses
• a piece of thin cardboard
• modeling clay
• water
• pencil

• With a point of a pencil, make a small hole in the center of a piece of cardboard.
• Push the stem of the leaf through the hole in the cardboard until the bottom of the leaf touches the cardboard.
• The stem should be on the underside of the cardboard.
• To seal the hole, you want to press small amounts of clay against the cardboard, so moisture will not come through.
• Fill up one of the glasses with water and place the cardboard on top of the glass.
• You need to make sure that the cardboard completely covers the glass and the stem of the leaf is in the water.
• Now put the other glass that is empty upside down over the leaf. The glasses should be directly on top of each other.
• Place the glasses in the direct sunlight for a couple of hours.
