Main Window:

The commands in the File will allow you to: Open a new navigator window Send a message Open a window in NTComposer to create a page from scratch, from a template or wizard Open a page in Composer or in Navigator Save the document you are working on Publish the page you are composing Send the page in an e-mail message Set up the page for printing Print the page Close the page Exit Netscape

The commands in Edit , will allow you to :

These are the options that you get by clicking in VIEW

By clicking on Insert you can:	Insert a link Insert a target  Insert an Image Insert a horizontal line Insert a table/row/column/cell Insert an HTML tag Insert a page break
In the format command, you will find all the possibilities to modify the font style as well as the page and character properties.  Page Properties:   If you are on a PC you can also get to this window by  clicking the right side of the mouse, and select the page properties and change the background, the color of the characters, the color of the links, the name of the page, etc

Composition Toolbar

• :Open a blank page in composer
• : Open an existing document/page.
• : Save the document you are working in, either in a floppy disk or in the hard disk. When you click here the first time, it will ask you where you want to save this page, the next time you click it will save it in the same document it was saved previously.
• Used to put the page in a server. This tool is seldom used, since this action  is more frequently done by using an FTP program.
• You will view the page as if you were browsing  the Internet. To execute this command Netscape Composer will ask you to save the page before browsing.
• : by means of these commands you will be able to cut, copy or paste  a previously selected field .
• This is a shortcut to printing the page/s
•   You will be able to trace a word in the page you are creating.
• Once you decide to link a name, address or picture to another document or part of this document, you have to click here to determine where the link will be established.
• If you want to establish links within a page, you will have to set up the targets or anchors where those links will address to. These are established by clicking on this shortcut.
• An image, a horizontal line and/or a table can be inserted by clicking on these or by using the Insert menu above.
• You can check the spelling of the document by clicking here.

Set up an anchor:

• Highlight or put the pointer on the word, phrase or image that will be set up as an achor
• Click on  or Insert --> Target, and a window like the following will appear:





• Enter the name for the Anchor, (sometimes the name is already entered),and click OK
• A  will appear, and that indicates that you can link part of this document or others to this place.

• Highlight the word, character, image, to be linked
• Click on  or on Insert --> Link, and a window like this will be opened:





• Write the URL or choose a "target" from the list in the textbox below and click OK.

Insert an image:

• Set the pointer where you want to place the image, decide about alignment and position,
• Click on  or Insert -->Image, and a box like the one below will appear:

• Type in the name of the image, or click on "Choose file" to find it in your files.
• Decide if
• -the image is going to be used as background , then click on the "use as background box",
• -the dimensions of the image are going to be the same as the original, if not see the "Dimensions" box
• -you want a border around the image or not, you can modify this in "Space around image"
• -you want a message to be displayed when the image does not come to the document, or when you point to the image, you can type one if you click on "Alt Text/ LowRes..."

• Then Click OK

Insert a Table:

• Set the pointer where you want to place the image, decide about alignment and position,
• Click on  or Insert -->Table, and a box like the one below will appear:

• the number of rows and columns,
• the alignment of the table in the document,
• the border,and the border width,
• the table width,
• the width of the columns
• The table background, if it will have a different color from the rest of the document, or if we will use an image as background, etc.

Formatting Toolbar:

This toolbar will allow you to decide on the formatting of the page and characters.By clicking on  the first item will determine what function will the characters display:

The second option will display the different types of fonts. "Variable Width" will appear by default, and I suggest this one since the font will display quite well on any machine.

The colors of the font will be by default suggested by Netscape Composer,  but you can select the color you want by clicking here:

You will also decide about the size of the font, the style, the use of indentation of paragraphs and margins by clicking on the options in the formatting toolbar.
