Rationale for applying for one of the following grants:  Many studies have been done which support the following idea:  while school districts spend many dollars on the hardware and software, only a small amount is spent on professional development, i.e. teaching the teachers how to use the hardware and software.  See CEO Forum's Report: Professional Development: A Link to Better Learning.
Therefore, I am looking for grants to further the idea of professional development in my district.  Here are two possibilities:

Name:  AT&T Learning Network Grant
Target Audience: All accredited public and private elementary and secondary schools as well as accredited public and private two and four-year institutions of higher education and educational nonprofit organizations
Regional Restrictions: The 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and all U.S. territories.
Application Deadline: Ongoing
Award: Varies.

Web Address:www.att.com/foundation
Description: The focus is on the use of technology to enhance teaching and
learning. The AT&T Learning Network Grants Program is most    interested in
projects that use technology to: 1) encourage family involvement in education;
2) provide professional development for teachers; and 3) encourage community
collaboration. Funding is to provide resources to help families, schools, and
communities understand how to use technology, not to provide computers,
modems, wiring, or other infrastructure needs. For guidelines, grant application
procedures, and the AT&T Regional Contributions Manager for your area, visit
the AT&T Foundation web site.

NameHurst Curriculum Technology Grant
Note:  see The Mall Project  I went through the grant application process when this grant was known as the S.P.A.C.E.  G.E.M.S. grant in the spring of 1998.  The Mall Project received the award for the grade 6-8 level, with a monetary award both for the school district and myself.  The application process involved providing information about the curricular unit, as well as stating how the technology was integrated into the curriculum.
