First-year courses

Students take an Introductory Course of Phonetics for 18 hours a week in small groups during 5 weeks. After that a number of courses (2-4 hours a week) are offered in Phonetics, Reading, Listening, Grammar and Speech.A range of teaching methods are used, from traditional grammar explanation to role-playing, dialogues during oral classes and problem-solving using stories and crosswords. Use is also made of the language laboratory and computer-assisted language learning facilities.

Second-year courses

Students continue with the English language but are also offered a number of compulsory courses, most of which run for one semester. These include: Educational Psychology, History of Belarus, General Linguistics, Culture and Traditions, American and British Studies.

Third-year courses

Students focus on language skills such as essay writing and aural comprehension. Other languages such as German, Italian, Spanish, Swedesh, Polish, French are on offer in addition to a range of compulsory courses such as Theory of Grammar, Lexicology, Theory of Phonetics.

Fourth-year courses

Fourth-year students concentrate on speech communication, composition writing and take courses in Stylistics, American and British Literature, Social Science. Fourth-year students are offered a selection of elective courses on any subject of interest related to Linguistics.
