How children process information when interacting with Cd-rom programs. Each child may process information differently. This depends on their age and thinking level. The "Living Books" are an example of learning technology that may fall short on the taxonomy.
This taxonomy promotes that a broad spectrum of uses of technology in education falls within its classifications. There are a couple of areas where the technology does not comply with all aspects of the taxonomy. Some fo the Interactvie CD- Roms for children do fall short of the taxonomy' s specifications. Depending on the age and level of thinking, each child may process the information differently.
The " Living Books " are an example of learning technology that may not comply with this taxonomy . These are useful only if the child is reading ready . If the child cannot read , then this serves as a mere entertainment device, resembling a cartoon or an animated video. The only difference maybe that the child chooses what to animate. There is no Inquiry, no communication, and no construction ( maybe a bit ). These are useful if the child has just learned how to read. I hope this fulfills the objective.
