HTML Editors 1st Page 2000 Activity # 6 |
Researching HTML editors was a rewarding experience. I started with some of the more popular editors like Front Page, Netscape Composer and Dreamweaver. As I searched, I found new editors to me: CoffeeCup, HotDog, Web Weaver, Fusion, and HTMLcat. Finally, I discovered Evrsoft's 1st Page 2000, an editor that I thought might be of interest to our class and best of all, it was free. 1st Page is designed for three different types of users: those we recognize as beginners, experts, and hardcore. Features for 1st Page include:
After downloading 1st Page, I tried to use it for this activity but found it was difficult to manuver without spending too much time in the tips and tricks section. I did, however, find that this editor had a great toolbar. The menus and toolbars were well organized and items were easy to locate and use. One thing I did find troubling was changing the screen color and getting a real time views. As I changed from beginner (easy) to expert, the toolbars changed, leaving me to once again look for the items needed. I think that with time and practice this might be a useful editor.

Conclusion In conclusion, I have decided to leave 1st Page on my computer and work with it in the future. I may be able to incorporate some of its features into my editor (Dreamweaver). It may be of interest to other persons who are just starting to learn HTML editing. With the 1st Page editor, one can start with the basic level and not spend a dime while learning. But for now though, I will continue to learn as much as I can with Dreamweaver, the editor that we use at OTC. Evrsoft's 1st Page 2000: INFORMATION
