On of the many goals of District 27 is for the teachers to be technology literate or at least comfortable enough to be able to use technology in the classroom and hopefully on their own.
The district encourages all adult learning that involves a worthwhile experience that helps one to better oneself professionally. Staff learning may occur due to self motivation or due to a requirement of the school district and/or new State mandated recertification policies.
The purpose of the book is for the staff of Northwest to better understand the local network as well as the Internet in general and to better use technology in the curriculum.
Training
Opportunities
There are various
opportunities throughout the school year for teachers to gain technology
training. Technology workshops have been spread out and offered
through the different types of workshops and inservice days. Inservice
technology workshops are provided as needed. The amount of funds
available help to determine the number of workshops made available and
if they are taught by someone from in or out of the district.
Opportunities for technology training within the district have been offered through the following workshops.
| Inservice days:
Several days each year are devoted devoted to workshops for teachers to attend. Usually a small selection of workshops were provided from which to choose some of which have been technology related. Each workshop lasts about an hour. |
After school workshops:
According to the district contract, all teachers are to attend at least one after school workshop provided by the district. About six workshops are provided a year on various topics. Usually at least one of these workshops is technology related. |
Saturday workshops:
Some years the district provides periodic three hour Saturday workshops on various topics. Attendees are provided with a stipend. In the past some of these workshops have focused on technology. |

check out the following packets provided at various workshops. Remember
hands-on experience is best. Print out a guide. Start up the
program and try it out! Most often comfort will come with practice.
