Respond to ALL of the following (A-F):
A. Provide a comprehensive description of the
project’s content, including goals, objectives and
activities that address the identified need(s). Describe
how your program will incorporate the
elements of scientific literacy and improve students'
knowledge and skills in science and/or
mathematics (see pages 2 and 3). Include the
population to be served, timelines, and personnel
responsible for completing the activities. If yours is
a joint application, identify the
responsibilities of each participating entity.
B. Describe how your project will address specific
Illinois Learning Standards in science and/or
mathematics.
C. Describe the predicted benefits of this program for
participating students. Describe how you will
evaluate your program. Include a description of the
data you will collect and analyze to
determine its effectiveness. Include data necessary to
identify:
· changes in student achievement and attitudes attributable to the
program; and
· school, parental, and/or community changes attributable to the program.
See Appendix C for guidance in developing an
evaluation plan.
D. Describe the need(s) you will address with this
proposed project and how you identified them.
Proposals should address needs prevalent in
mathematics, science and technology education
today and not merely problems inherent solely to the
applicant.
E. Provide evidence from current literature that the
proposed strategy has merit for addressing the
need(s) you have described. Describe how the findings
from your project will be shared through
publication in journals, on the Internet and/or
through presentations at state and local education
conferences.
F. Describe which elements of this program will be
incorporated into ongoing, locally supported
scientific literacy efforts and how you will
coordinate the use of scientific literacy funds with
other state, federal and private funds.
