I grew up in Taylorville, a small community of 12,000, which is located 30 miles south of Springfield. After graduating from Taylorville High School in June of 1991, I made the big transition from living at home to moving away to college. During my college years, my future husband and I were introduced and began dating. After graduating from Eastern, I moved to Springfield so I could be closer to the priorities in my life---Joel and my job. This was a wonderful time in my life. I had little responsibility, lots of free time, and MONEY to spend on those important things in life--manicures, cocktails, clothing, and massages! As Joel and I became more serious, we began talking about marriage. Or should I say, I began talking about marriage. Joel wasn't exactly ready to tie the knot. Finally, after 3 and 1/2 years of courtship, Joel proposed. Shortly after becoming engaged, we began building a home. So, not only were we trying to plan a wedding but we were also trying to pick door knobs, grout color, and landscaping. we were almost divorced before we were even married! Finally, in June of 1997, Joel and I become husband and wife and moved into our new home. Just when things began to slow down and get back to normal----SURPRISE! you guessed it ...I found out I was pregnant. Wow! In less than twelve months, Joel and I were married, became home owners, and parents! Talk about being busy.
