Mastering the Interviewing Process

How do I land an interview?

What should I wear?

When can I ask about salary?

Should I answer questions about my personal life?

How can I negotiate a better deal? (Fry, 1996).

Do these questions sound familiar to you? They are just a few of the many questions that job seekers have in regards to the interviewing process. While the interviewing process might seem overwhelming, there are things that one can do to prepare for an interview, and hopefully, after time, be able to "master" the interviewing process.

What I found helpful in preparing for the interviewing process was reading the book titled, "Your First Interview-Third Edition" by Ron Fry. This book contains the answers to the questions above as well as many more that many job seekers have about the interviewing process in general. Specifically, in this book, you will find the following topics covered:

You can purchase this book through Amazon.com. I highly recommend making this small investment of less than $15. While I cannot promise that by reading this book, you will become a "master" in the interviewing process. However, I can tell you that it will significantly improve your interviewing skills and, as a result, will increase your chances of landing a great HR-related job!
